I have seen several counselors over the years, but no one has been as helpful and forthright as Sean Paul. I have been seeing Sean Paul for a year and he is compassionate and non-judgmental as he guides me through my healing process. Sean Paul doesn't only sit and listen to me, but he interacts and gives me feedback even if it is difficult.

What can I expect in the first session when I see a therapist?
In your first session, your therapist will spend some time getting to know you and the issues that brought you into treatment. He or she may use a formal, structured interview, or it may just feel like a more free-flowing conversation. The therapist will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals.
Most importantly, in that first session, you will begin making a connection with your therapist. You should feel safe, accepted, respected, and relatively comfortable. Not all therapists are right for every person, so use your first session to assess whether or not the therapist you chose feels like a good match for your personality.
What are the signs of being abused by partner?
Physical abuse is easy to recognize, but emotional abuse in a relationship can be more insidious, often going undetected by family members, friends and even victims themselves.
“Unlike physical or sexual abuse, there is a subtlety to emotional abuse,” Lisa Ferentz, a licensed clinical social worker and educator specializing in trauma, told HuffPost. “It’s a lot more confusing to victims, as it typically is couched in behaviors that can initially be perceived as ‘caring.’”
At the start of a relationship, the abuser may appear to be attentive and kind. Ferentz said that this period of good behavior is part of the perpetrator’s “grooming process.”
“In doing so, they win over the trust and confidence of their victims, which then makes the victims vulnerable to subsequent abuse,” she explained.
What can I expect when i come for an evaluation?
Psychological testing can involve formal questionnaires, checklists, surveys, interviews, and observations to assess a person. The type of psych evaluation often depends on the person and what needs to be assessed. When determining the appropriate test, an individual’s cognitive functioning, current symptoms, abilities, and attitudes are taken into consideration.
A family member or loved one may be asked to accompany you during a psych evaluation. They can provide insights, observations, and perspectives helping the psychologist assess your current strengths and needs.
Be ready to share any medical issues you are experiencing. Know all medications and supplements you take-including recreational drugs. This helps a psychologist rule out physical health problems, medication side effects, and issues with drug interactions.
